Removing hair dye from a carpet is possible if you have the right ingredients and know how to do it. First, try to take it off without using chemicals. A mixture of water, vinegar, and dish soap can be used. You can also use rubbing alcohol. One way to clean something is with an ammonia-based cleaning solution. Another way to clean something that has a stain is with hydrogen peroxide. If the carpet is discolored after removing hair dye, try coloring it with a fabric pen.

Things You’ll Need

 White Vinegar
Dishwashing Liquid
Rubbing Alcohol
Ammonia
Hairspray
Astringent
Baby Shampoo
Lukewarm and cold water
Sponge or clean rag
Cotton Swabs

Method no1 Using Dish Soap, Vinegar, and Rubbing Alcohol:

Mix dish soap, white vinegar, and water. In a large bowl or bucket, pour 2 cups of warm water. Add 1 tablespoon of dish washing liquid and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. Mix the ingredients together.

Dab the mixture onto the stain with a clean cloth. Dip a cloth into the cleaning mixture. Wring the cloth to avoid wetting the carpet. Use a soft cloth to press on the stain instead of rubbing it with your hands. This will stop the stain from getting into the carpeting fibers.

Blot the stain with a dry cloth as you clean. After applying the cleaning mixture onto the hair dye stain, use a clean, dry cloth to blot it. This dry cloth should soak up some of the dye that was loosened by the cleaning mixture. To remove a stain, put a cleaning liquid on it and then wipe up the liquid with a dry towel. Repeat this process until the stain is gone. When you clean, use a cloth that you don’t mind getting dirty.

Sponge the area with water and blot it with another dry cloth. Once the stain is gone, use a wet sponge to clean the area. Wet the entire effected  area of the carpet with water. Then take a clean, dry cloth and use it to pull the water back up out of the carpet.

Apply rubbing alcohol if necessary. If hair dye is still left on the carpet, use rubbing alcohol to try to get it out. Clean the stain with a cloth. Get the alcohol and put it on the cloth. Blot until you can’t see any more of the stain. Repeat until it’s gone.

Method no2 Using an Ammonia Solution:

Mix an ammonia cleaning solution. If dish soap, vinegar, and rubbing alcohol do not work to remove hair dye from your carpet, make an ammonia-based cleaning solution. In a bowl or bucket, mix 2 cups of water with 1 teaspoon of soap and 1 tablespoon of ammonia. Open doors and windows to create ventilation when you use this solution. because it can cause you to get poisoned.

Apply the solution to the carpet stain. Put on gloves to protect your hands. Get a clean cloth, dip it in the ammonia solution, and wring it out. Put the Dab on the hair dye spill until the whole surface of it is covered.

Let the solution sit on the stain for 30 minutes. After you have put the cleaning solution on the stain, do not touch it. Let it be for a few minutes so that the solution can do its work. Set a timer on your phone or put an alarm on it. Keep children and pets away from the area so they do not get hurt.
Sponge on more solution every 5 minutes until the stain disappears. After 30 minutes, put a new cloth in the ammonia base  solution. After 30 minutes, take a new cloth and dip it in the ammonia. Wring out the cloth. Dab on more solution and let it sit for 5 minutes this time.

Sponge on cold water and air-dry. Once the stain is removed, wet a clean cloth or sponge with water. Dab the water on the carpet. Use a clean cloth to blot it out. Then let the carpet dry for 24 hours.

Method no3 Removing Stubborn Dye with Hydrogen Peroxide:

Apply hydrogen peroxide to the stain with an eye dropper. Make sure the stain is covered, and do not use hydrogen peroxide on other parts of the carpet. If you do not have an eyedropper, you can also put hydrogen peroxide on a teaspoon and put it on the stain.

Warning: If you use hydrogen peroxide, it could ruin your carpet and change its color. Only do this if you have tried other cleaning methods and they did not work.

Let the carpet dry for 24 hours. Leave the hydrogen peroxide on the stain. Don’t let children or animals go into that room during this time. Don’t touch the stain for 24 hours.

Dab the area with a wet sponge. After 24 hours, blot out the hydrogen peroxide with water. Wet a clean sponge and gently press it down onto the surface of the stain. Allow the spot to air dry.

Re-color the faded area if necessary. If the hydrogen peroxide makes your carpet change color, buy a felt-tip fabric marker that is close to your carpet color. You need to apply the new color on the faded part of your carpet. Use light strokes. Let the area dry for 24 hours and add more color if needed. First, test the marker on a piece of fabric to see what color it actually is.
